Oh my aching head!

Definitely feeling it today… I have a headache that, while not blindingly bad, just won’t go away. Just a dull ache. Ugh. I half expected this. In the past when I would go too long between eating, I would get this headache, and move from feeling shaky to downright hangry if I didn’t get some food into me stat!

This time it’s different though. I do have the headache, but that’s it. I’m not hungry because I have good options for snacks. Now if I could just get rid of this headache, I would call this pretty smooth sailing.

I am drinking enough water and getting plenty of salt, so that is not the problem… I am drinking my coffee with heavy cream, snacking on cheese sticks and peanut butter so I think the fat content is enough. My theory is that the headache is a reaction to drastically cutting back the sugar. I’ll suffer through it–I am committed to seeing this through!

I did pretty well yesterday, enjoying coffee with cream and a blueberry, banana and yogurt smoothie for breakfast; ham, tomato and cheese wraps for lunch; one glass of dry white wine with my cheese stick at cocktail hour (quite civilized!); and my egg wrap creation (recipe to come!) for dinner. A chilled peanut butter spoon “fat bomb” for dessert.

I know that I am not supposed to be snacking between meals, but I am still easing into this for now. My goal is to get to where I do not need to eat between my 2-3 meals/day.

I also know that the banana is a high-carb food, but I am factoring it into my 100 grams or less per day.

Same goes for the wine. I have read of many people being able to enjoy in moderation and still lose weight using this method of eating, so I’m going to see if I am one of them!

Ultimately, this is not a diet, but a new lifestyle. If I feel like I am giving up too much, it will not be sustainable.

Planning more of the same for today!

Please note: I am not a doctor or nutritionist. While this LCHF and ketogenic diet experiment has worked well for me so far, your mileage may vary. This diet needs to be balanced correctly, in order to avoid potential side effects. It is always a good idea to discuss any major health decisions with your doctor before getting started.
